About time and its relationship to space
For 2-channel video. Performance for two dancers
Time is a sensation. It serves to structure our lives - it is a support, without which we cannot orientate ourselves, neither in personal decisions, nor in human history; but a time in an absolute sense does not exist. The value of time is in the head.
Is time travel possible? Researchers experiment with fragments faster than light; they discover genetically programmed clocks that decide the rhythm-duration of life and destroy an illusion: A foolish illusion? Impotent? Already Newton gave a definition saying simply: Time is the regular ticking from one moment to the next". With the physics of Einstein he lost his right to the absolute: There was no more universally even time; there was no more place to become or flow constantly". The universe does not participate in our idea of Now". Neither time flows nor does it regularly.
The organ in the ear that allows balance is called the Inner Labyrinth. Thanks to this organ we have the possibility of coordinating our movement within space. This is the prerequisite for being able to have a proper sense of rhythm and time.
“The past does not exist, because it is no more.
The future does not exist because it has not begun.
Only the present exists. A great elastic present."
St. Augustin, Confessions lib. 11; approx. 400 A.D.
