Multimedia Dance Performance by Wolfgang H Scholz
The dance performance “Balance” is a piece for a female dancer. It is performed in the centre of the room. Two linked projected areas join to create a circular form, with the audience on the opposite side and the dancer in-between.
Short parts of the film are identical to the movements of the dancer recorded in a rehearsal. The dancer encounters herself in reflected movement. This union is interrupted by different pictorial and tonal associations.
For me the central thought was to make a road - if we can call it that - wich every person lives. If one incerts small changes in movement space and time, only then can we perceive the changes that occure during this time. WHScholz 1994
A multimedia stage dance piece with a 2-channel video installation.
Life consists of the chance coincidence of different perceptions.
The piece "balance - a piece of time" consists of five parts:
the search - the illusion of uranium, the yearning for an encounter,
the finding - the coincidence of the encounter
the experience - the compromise, the common life
Losing - the separation
the end place and the new beginning - the dream of "pure" repetition
It's about the movement in relation to time. To the final destination, the so-called destination - beginning and end of a route. To what extent is this end clear and firm? Can one go out of it - all ways seem to be used. Everything needs a goal - an end, whose destiny does not exist. The fear of loss and the illusion of the final place keeps us on our way.
